Great for home-based business

Pros: functional, Appearance/Design, comfortable, Size & Weight, Well Made/ Sturdy
Cons: Difficult to Assemble
We bought 2 desks. They took a total of 42 steps, 2 people, and 6 hours to assemble. That was good and bad. The detailed instructions were a great help but also a bit overwhelming. HOWEVER in the end it was worth it. The desks are very attractive and functional for our business too.

I love my new desk

Pros: functional, features, Appearance/Design, Size & Weight
I hope that this is not the highest quality desk I will ever purchase, but for the price it is a great deal. It definitely has some preexisting nicks in laminate, but it still looks great for an inexpensive desk. The hutch really makes the desk. Overall, it took several hours to put together, but again, it was worth the price!

Absolutely beautiful Desk

Pros: Quality of Material, functional, Appearance/Design, Well Made/ Sturdy
I've never had a nice desk before and so this time I wanted to get something real nice, but looking around at all the others stores the nice ones are really expensive. I saw this at OfficeDepot and it went on sale, what a great buy! This is a beautiful desk, love the color and the inlay leatherette on top. It looks well constructed, sturdy and wasn't too bad to put to gether. Really like it.

Decent Quality, Great Price

Pros: functional, features, Appearance/Design, Size & Weight, Well Made/ Sturdy, ease of assembly, price
Cons: Easily Damaged, hard to align door
What makes this desk so great is that it is so easy to put together. Every company that ships an item which has to be assembled should copy the exact process as demonstrated by Realspace! Every step of the assembly process had a corresponding bag that contained all the needed "hardware" (screws and other misc. pieces). Every piece in the box was very well labled but at first glance, once all the pieces were layed out,it looked somewhat over-welming! Well believe me when I say it was a piece of cake!! Bravo on the whole idea...... detailed assembly instructions with corresponding bag of parts with exact hardware needed for that specific step. I have been forwarned on the ease of scratches so will have to get a couple of pieces of glass for the desktops.

Love the top!

Pros: functional, features, Appearance/Design, comfortable, Well Made/ Sturdy
Cons: nothing
This desk was super easy to put together. I am a 50 year old, 110 pound grandmother and I put this together by myself. No it's not solid wood but for the price you can't beat it. I purchased the entire set and it looks great in my home office. I love the faux leather writing surface, I feel it will help protect the finish.

Very pleased

Pros: Quality of Material, functional, Appearance/Design
Cons: Easily Damaged, Unaligned
I purchased this desk along with the hutch as part of a bundle that was on sale for $199. I had been looking at purchasing both items separately at the non-sale prices, so this was too good of a deal to pass up. Quick tip - the manager at my Office Depot stated they run this sale quite often, so try not to purchase unless you can get this great deal.
I can honestly say these were the most stress free things I've had to put together in my life. Instructions were great and easy to follow and all parts (screws/dowels, etc.) for the desk are separated by step so you have a separate bag with parts for each assembly step. For some reason, they didn't follow the same bag approach for the hutch, but it was still easy to follow. It does take a while if you take your time and are careful, just because there are a lot of parts.
My main complaint is that there are a few instances during assembly where it is hard to get the parts to align. The manual shows how you can adjust the hinges to help with alignment, but at some points it still doesn't come out quite right. One of my drawers juts out slightly, and I couldn't fix it no matter what I did. It's very minor but still not ideal.
I'm very pleased with this desk. It offers a lot of space without taking up much room. It looks sleek, high quality, and modern. It does seem to scratch VERY easily, and the product had a few slight scratches out of the box. This might not be a good desk for someone using it as a main work area, because I'm not sure how long the finish will last with constant use. I'm not too worried about it though since it's just my home desk.
I highly recommend this desk.

Beautiful Desk. Horrible Cheap Finish.

Pros: functional, features, Appearance/Design, comfortable
Cons: Easily Damaged, quality of finish
I was so excited to purchase the desk. The design is great. There is plenty of storage space to put everything. Assembly was a breeze. The instructions were easy to follow. I also purchased the hutch and when I was finished I was very happy. The desk looked great.
BE WARNED!
The veneer finish is truly Tissue Paper thin. So scrathces are going to happen and very easily. After 10 months I had worn down the finish in several areas. I since then have torn it down and have decided to get a solid wood desk.
Finally, I have had many desks in the past and they have always lasted at least 2 to 4 years. But this one could not even make it a year.

Great Deal & Perfect for Home Office

Pros: functional, features, Appearance/Design, Size & Weight, Well Made/ Sturdy
Cons: scratches very easily
We just purchased this a week ago when it was on special along with the Hutch for $199. We just couldn't pass up the deal. We put the desk together yesterday and the hutch today. The desk took a good part of the afternoon and the hutch was probably a little over 90 Minutes. The instructions for the desk are the best we've found in any un-assembled furniture we've purchased. Each step in the assembly is matched with a small bag with just the right screws, dowels and other material you need just for that step - so it makes the assembly process very easy. It just takes time to go through all the steps. In terms of appearance the desk and hutch look great. The acrylic inserts on the hutch really make it seem more expensive. The fit of the drawers on the desk and panels on the hutch are really good. The keyboard drawer is at the ideal height and comfortable. The desk is also very sturdy.
The one drawback, which you can see on the side desk is that, just as reported by earlier posts, the desk scratches very easily. So, you have to budget that you'll have to get a blotter or desk pad to protect the side desk. At this point, we're thinking of either a piece of glass on the main desk and a blotter on the side desk. If you don't put something over the side desk, I can see where it will look old and scratched in no time. So just realize that you'll need to protect the surface.
We have a small office probably about 12x12 at the front of the house, and this desk & hutch are perfect for small home offices as it doesn't take up much room but yet still provides you with a good amount of desk space. If you're able to find the desk&hutch $199, I strongly recommend that you purchased it. It actually looks even better when you get it home. Now that we have it assembled, we're very happy we made the purchase for such a reasonable price.

Not Great

Pros: functional
Cons: Easily Damaged
This desk looked very nice when we first put it together, very classy. Within a few months the dark finish started scratching, rubbing or pealing off like thin tape from the the top and edges. The tape-like finish is very dark and the desk material underneath is very light so it looked horrible very quickly.
I love the shape, design and drawer space, but the finish is awful. Will be shopping for something similar but with a more durable finish.

Ergonomics need upgrading

Pros: functional, Appearance/Design
Cons: ergonomics
I purchased this desk with hutch and bookcase/filing cabinet about 1 month ago. No problem with quality or appearance. It looks great! However because of the placement of the computer screen and keyboard, there is no room on the right side when you type. You are jammed up against the ell. This is very uncomfortable.

Great for the Price!

Pros: functional, features, Appearance/Design, comfortable
Cons: Easily Damaged
I think it’s great for the price. It looks great but it does scratch easily and it had a few scratches out of the package. Think about how much you paid. I mean $129.99 for a great looking desk. I knew that with three little kids under 6 years old it would be destroyed in a few days so I came up with a great solution that will keep it looking great for years. I first took a black (I have the espresso colored desk) sharpie and covered all the scratches and scuffs. Then I put 4 coats of polyurethane on it to seal in the good looks. You can put more or only coat it 3 times but the more coats the more it will hold up to abuse. I had enough to do 4 so I did 4. It looks even better. If I didn’t know the price I would think it’s a $1,000 desk. This may seem like a lot of work but it’s worth it. Looks great! I hope this helps. I also went and bought a couple trim plugs for the back hole and I used a key hole saw to cut a round hole in the top on the leather behind the monitor to hind the wires and used a trim plug for that as well because I have it facing the middle of the room in my office.

POOR QUALITY

Pros: Appearance/Design
Cons: Easily Damaged, Size & Weight
This desk was made of the cheapest quality products ever. Becareful if you get tape on the surface as it will peel the paper lining. If you touch the drawers with your desk chair the corners will disintigrate exposing the ugly particle board used for the desk. I had several parts replaced under the warranty but bad quality is bad quality no matter how many times you get replacement parts. This desk looks great for the first couple of day but the wear will not last. DO NOT BUY!!!!

Desk & Hutch

Pros: Quality of Material, functional, features, Appearance/Design
The Desk & Hutch were a bundle package not stocked in local store. Great value for the price! Shipped in three cartons, assembly was explained very well in the directions. Allow 3-4 hours for assembly.
Quality piece of furniture for the $$$.

Great Product for the price

Pros: Quality of Material, functional, comfortable, Appearance/Design, Well Made/ Sturdy
Cons: Easily Damaged
I got a great deal on these desk, it looks like it's really expensive, the instructions were easy to follow I'm a woman and was able to put it together by myself, I only had one problem when It was time to put the drawers in the desk it was not able, luckyly my husband came and checked it and discovered the the board with the rails (which were already on the board) were put in backwards by the factory we unscrewed it and everything was fine, but otherwise I would not have been able to figure it out..so watch out on that.
The results are a beautiful desk, great value for the price (wait until they put it on special) I'm going to buy the hutch next time I see it on special

No complaints

Pros: functional, Appearance/Design, Well Made/ Sturdy, Size & Weight
I have as the title suggests, no complaints about this desk. I found a great deal and it (for the price) is a fantastic desk. I waited to write this review until after I had set up and installed the desk. The only suggestion I have is for this company to find a way to bridge the gap between the two sections of the desk in a little cleaner way. I'm not complaining I'm just saying there is a small gap between the two sections. I'm also not sure why people complain about the install. Every piece was well marked and the instructions were great. You will not benefit from a engineering degree, I don't have one and I had this completed on my own in about 2 and maybe a half hours. One thing that will help is a ratcheting screwdriver and organizing all the parts alphabetically (as they are labeled) so when the instructions say a part you are not searching and wasting time. A gram of prevention is worth a pound of cure...save yourself time and do a proper preparation : ) Enjoy this purchase as I now will too.

great for the price

Pros: features, Appearance/Design
Cons: Easily Damaged, Size & Weight
$199 for desk and hutch very reasonable
The box dimension should someone want to see whether it'll fit in their vehicle is approx 64"x27"x7.5"
Took about 3 hrs to assemble and I only needed a bit of help putting the desktop and to move the HEAVY desk in place once the assembly is complete.
The quality is OK and better than I expected. All the holes lined up great except for 2 and for those 2, the screws were slightly tilted in a non-visible location.
Be gentle when you remove the pieces from the box as the surface scratches easily.
To the reviewers who worry about disassembly, I didn't put the glue with the dowel - if one only glued one end per instructions, I don't see the point.

Realspace® Magellan Collection L-Shaped Desk

Pros: functional, features, Appearance/Design, comfortable
Cons: Easily Damaged
I was looking for something not too large and not too expensive for my small sized home office. Picked up this desk and the matching hutch for $199 combined at the local Office Depot store. For that price, it was a great buy. I would not have paid full price for it though. Wasn't too difficult to assemble - hardest part is putting the desk top on without damaging anything. You will need one or two other people to help you assemble at times and move it into place when you are done.
Assembled and with the hutch attached, this is a really nice looking desk, it really adds something to the room. I can't comment on durability, but quality wise it is on par with other assemble-yourself type furniture that I have had. The drawers do seem a little flimsy, but having had a similar type desk in the past, I've learned not to put anything too heavy in them or to be too rough.
It does weigh a lot, and it is very difficult to move. Make sure you assemble it as close to where you are placing it as you can.
Overall, I like it and am very happy with the purchase at $199 for the desk and hutch.
