Purchased this desk today with free hutch. Had ordered a different desk last week, decided to wait until this desk came on sale. It did, the following week!!! Glad I waited. It didn't take too long....3 hrs. alone. There were small scratches after it was complete, however, it was not a problem as it was eassily fixed with a black permanent marker. Beautilful desk for the price. Looks like a high priced desk, without the excess money. I still have to set up the "free" hutch. I cannot wait. I have read the reviews on the ventilation problem, but will drill a hole. I will also drill a hole on the desk to allow all of my wiring to fall through. For additional storage, as I intend to use the hutch primarily for my books, i purchased dark brown leather looking baskets for magazines, etc. I am really anxious to get it all up and organized. Thanks for a great looking desk.

I toyed with the idea of purchasing a much more expensive "real wood" desk, but in the end - I decided to save a few pennies and buy this stylish desk.
I went to the store to see this desk in person before purchasing online (with coupon and in store pickup). I wanted to see if the backside of the desk was "pretty" - or if the ugly side of the wood would show out - I am happy to report it looks nice.
The instructions are a bit brief and to the point. There were two occasions where I ended up putting a piece on backwards - and had to take it apart when I realized later.
They provided extra hardware in case you loose a screw (or other) along the way.
Took me a few different adjustments to get the drawers to align properly.
Yes - it is as heavy as others have mentioned, you cannot carry it from your car to your house by yourself - get help. Assembly was easy enough for one person.
I'm still trying to figure out the best way to enlarge the hole in the back of the CPU cabinet, without making a mess of things - maybe drilling more holes (with a spade bit) instead of trying to make the existing one bigger.
Also, there are no holes on the top of the desk - so I don't have a simple way of running my 2nd computer's wiring (laptop) from top to bottom, without just dropping the wires behind the back of the desk - maybe I'll drill another hole - dunno.
All in all, I'm happy with the desk - I also purchased the hutch, which I still have to assemble.

Very high quality for a build-it-yourself desk. Beautiful piece of furniture, too. I put it in my living room, and it looks great there -- not a whiff of "cheap furniture" about it. It's big and complex, so it takes several hours to build. I did it over a weekend, working on it for a while and stopping when I got tired of the project.

The table was easy to assemble with the pictures and the individually labeled screws and piecs, but it did come with some scratches. Its not very noticeable until upon close examination.
The box was heavy! Overall, the table is assembled and looks great!

This desk was great for the price I paid. I was able to put this together even though my husband said I was too small to put it together. I proved him wrong. I love my desk and it looks very high quality. The only issue I had was I picked the item up in the store after ordering it online and when I took the item home, about 5 boards were cracked. The box was way to heavy to return and I forced myself to put it together anyway. The cracked boards made them warp and assembly was even harder. If you receive broken pieces, prepare to have a difficult time putting it together. Otherwise, great desk with around 4 hours assembly time.

For the price this is an excellent desk. Delivery went as scheduled. My son-in-law and I assembled it in about 2 hours. Instructions were outstanding, all pieces were labeled and there were 1-2 extra screws, dowels, etc. of each. I'm not a fan of these 'assembly required' products, however, this desk looks like a much more expensive unit and all drawers assembled easily and accurately. I was unable to use the CPU area, far too hot. The depth of the two desk areas are 30" for the main desk and 19" for the return. All advertised measurements were accurate.

This was easy to put together, contains extra parts in some cases just in case, is well labeled and heavy (170 lbs in the box).

I just love my desk! It was very easy to assemble; instructions (and pictures) made it simple to understand and follow. The dark color makes it look much more expensive than the sale price I paid. What a bargain! I had been shopping around for several months so this was the perfect sale for me. I keep watching for a bookcase to match but haven't found it yet. I would recommend it to anyone. My dog even likes to sit there with me. It's just GREAT.

great desk at a low price

I purchased the Espresso Magellan L shaped desk for $150 at office depot. It has a rich looking espresso color and I think its a classy looking desk. The 28 step assembly does take a lot of time but instructions are very easy to follow. The only drawback I can think of is the wood under the espresso is a light color. This makes nicks and scratches more noticable. Still, nicks an scratches are easy to touch up with the right color crayon or marker. I highly recommend this desk. Dont be intimidated by all the parts. Its easy to assemble. Just a lot of hours of screwdriving.

This desk was exactly what I was looking for in this price range. Very sturdy, well laid out and nice looking. Assembly did take some time, but all parts were well marked and instructions were easy to follow. I purchased the hutch and placed it on the right side of the L. Also chose to leave lower portion of the back off the hutch so that my wall color could show through. Had to drill extra ventilation holes in the back of the computer cabinet otherwise it got way too hot - but that was an easy fix. Would purchase again!

I have not yet finished assembling but wanted to share my experience. As everyone says parts are labled very clearly and instructions are very clear. Like another reviewer, I assembled the drawers/doors first. I am building it in the same room it will be positioned. You will need someone to help you get it out of the car. Once I was ready to put it together, I opened the box in the garage and took all of the individual parts into the house. Cannot wait until I am finished. Bought hutch too but will assemble it on another weekend.

This is a great desk for the money. Looks great, and has a lot of storage space. Instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Just go step by step according to the instructions. I'm a numbers person, not all that mechanically inclined, and I was able to assemble this desk by myself in a little under 4 hours. All of the parts and hardware are very clearly labeled. Looks great once assembled. It is VERY heavy so be sure to have some help bringing it in, and assemble it close to where you will be using it. It would be hard to move once assembled. Bought the hutch too and can't wait to add that.
