Excelent Computer for the money

Pros: value, Features, Quiet, Easy to Use, Display Screen, Design, Performance
Cons: nothing yet
Had been looking at all in ones for the past few weeks and finally decided on this HP Envy 23 touch screen. So far so good. Win 8 is easy to use once you get down how to navigate. The screen resolution is what sold this for me. Full 23" youtube videos at 4k original quality look amazing. If your reading this review and your at the store open up youtube for yourself and check it out. The internet connection in the store was way slower than my home internet. Wish it had wireless keyboard and mouse though. Not a big deal but two less cords to deal with.

Motherboard died in 6 months

Pros: Features
Cons: Design, Performance, Build Quality
I’ve owned this system for six months and a couple of weeks ago, it stopped powering on.
Initially, I thought it was a bad power supply, so I contacted HP and spent an hour and a half being transferred by four or five different customer representatives (all Indian). I told them that I measured the power supply with a multimeter and that it was under voltage. It took me a while, but I finally convinced them to send me another power supply in the mail. I didn’t want to send the whole system in, because that was a hassle. When I received the replacement power supply and tried it out, it didn’t help.
It was the computer itself.
I ended up sending the entire system in to be repaired under warranty. I contacted customer service (for a third time) and told them I’d send the system in to be repaired. They told me they’d restore the system to its factory defaults and that I would lose all my data. I told them I’d like to keep my data. Because a computer without data is like a house without stuff.
“We suggest you back your data up before sending it in,” they said.
Frustrated. “I can’t.”
“Why not?”
“I’ve been on the phone with you for an hour. You literally typed ‘computer doesn’t power on’ in your problem description field. If I could power the computer on, I could back up the data. But I wouldn’t have to back up the data because, well, NOTHING would be wrong with the computer.”
After 30 minutes of arguing, I convinced HP to leave my data alone and to fix the power issue.
Today I received the repaired system by FedEx, and it turns out the motherboard went kapooie.
When I opened the shipping box, the back casing on the PC was not installed properly, and there were gaps all along its edges. I had to remove the back cover and reinstall it so it would sit flush again.
I powered up the PC, waited 15 minutes while the computer scanned and repaired the harddrive (suggesting that HP did not bother to power the computer on after replacing the motherboard). I had multiple certificate errors, and Windows 8 was reporting that it needed to be activated. I called support and sat on the phone for another hour before I realized the problem was due to the date and time being set to year 2023. Once I corrected this, everything began to operate properly again.
I’m unhappy with the quality of this product (a catastrophic failure after 6 months of use), and I’m unhappy with the support I’ve received thus far. I can’t complain about the customer service because there isn’t any.

2 HP Lemons in a Row

Pros: Display Screen, Design
Cons: Display Screen, Performance, Build Quality, non functional touch screen, loud cd/dvd drive, hp tech support is rude and/or inept
If this product performed like the display model in the South Austin store did, I'd still have it in my study. The first one, bought about 10 days ago, had a faulty network card--would not grab or keep a WiFi signal, even though my condo signal is strong. The second one, fresh out of the box and swapped for the 1st one, worked great for about 4 days. Then suddenly the TouchSmart screen got TouchDUMB. NO response to to fingers, other than basic scrolling up and down, so neither text nor images could be enlarged--which is part of the true charm of an iPhone, whose technology they're clearly cloning here. I bought this primarily to re-write a manuscript, and it was a huge plus to be able to enlarge the text on the screen to the point of maximum legibility--a great tool to have for a writer.
RE: HP tech support: Good luck with that. Phoned this morning (Easter Sunday), reached a sweet girl in the Philippines, who then transferred my call to a bloke named "Jay" in India. After a solid 5 minutes of banter, Jay decided he didn't want to provide tech support, so abruptly transferred me to a bloke named Rajneesh, or what sounded like that--also in India. I could barely understand his English, but once he grasped my issues with the Touch Smart screen that didn't like to be touched, he said, "That is a hardware issue. You'll have to ship it to us for repair." A 4 day old All-In-One pc needing repair? I don't think so, Rajneesh.
I'm left with a strong temptation to go to another OD location in Austin to see if the third time is a charm. Charm is also a word you'll find out about with the WIndows 8 operating system. I really didn't mind Windows 8, it worked pretty well. But my second HP was a seriously bad lemon. Did they manufacture both of these units on a Blue Monday?

I just got this computer a week ago and I LOVE IT!! It meets all my expectations its great to have the touchscreen it makes games and applications just so much easier and more fun for not only me but my daughter as well. I would recommend this computer to anyone ..It is well worth the money you spend on it :) I would suggest to buy some screen cleaning wipes just to keep the touchscreen nice and free from tons of finger prints . BUY IT you wont be sorry !
