after 3 months of usage

Pros: Value for Money, Battery Life, Quiet, Design, Performance, sound
Cons: keyboard, trackpad
wrote my 1st review back in April. i've now used this for 3 months and can proplery highlight its bad points.
Interface:
1. The mousepad is annoying. Your hand touches it when typing (which can be avoided by a slight adjustment, nonetheless though it is annoying).
2. The status lights are located at the bottom & covered by your left hand when typing. So you don't know when the WiFi is on, cap locks, num locks, etc unless you lift your hand.
3. Control Shift End doesn't work. (its suppose to highlight til lthe end but doesn't highlight at all).
4. Its annoying to switch between the numpad and the page down, up, home, end keys.
5. Lack of media keys. I've found myself trying to pause windows media player with shortcut keys only to realize there are no media keys. (Very annoying).
6. The small arrow keys are really annoying and actually hurt your hands (the endges are not rounded). I used my old laptop and realized how comfortable the keyboard was. This new design is suppose to be better for cleaning but its annoying on the hands. The old (rounded, smooth, without any gaps between the keys design) was much more comfortable.
Performance:
* The speakers are amazing not quite 2.1 system but butter than other laptop speakers.
* It is a very powerful laptop (i can have 42 tabs open) and still have no lag.
* Its very quite & cool (by design). Even when gaming (dragon age 2 on low settings but still really good performance).
Wishes:
1. had the smooth non spaced out keyboard design with bigger arrow keys & seperate numeric pad from the page up, down, home etc keys.
2. Media keys at the top (play/pause, previous, next, volume)
3. Status Light keys at the top (so you know if cap locked, wifi on,etc)
4. Higher pixel more than 1366x768 as I'm used to a 21" screen and find the height on this thing a bit small.
Overall I'd still buy this though (bought it at $550).
Battery = more than 4 hrs

Worst computer purchase ever

Pros: Battery Life, Display Screen
Cons: Performance, Expensive, Difficult to Use
This is my first time using an MSI laptop computer. I have had it for only 1week and it will not boot up. I bought it on a Sunday from office depot and of course the store had already closed for today. I tried MSI technical support for the machine, it is only available Monday-Friday. I also went to the website to get information. It is not user friendly and it seems I have a major problem. Others who have had similar problems says they have had repeated problems without any satisfactory resolve.
In the a.m. I will be returning it for a complete refund, but unfortunately you can only get an exchange if you have opened it. This will be my first and last time purchasing any equipment from there. They pushed getting Office Depot extra warranty more than the product. I see why,
you are going to need it. I have been using computers for a very long time and I have never had anything like this happen with a supposely new computer!!! Beware!! Also the computer runs slowly and the mouse touch pad is very sensitive and annoying. I was attracted by its nice screen size and value but its problems has out weighed any value it thought I was getting in only 1 week. I will add an update as to my experience when I return it.

Extremely Powerful - Interface has learning Curve

Pros: Value for Money, Features, Battery Life, Quiet, Display Screen, Performance, really cool (not warm), usb 3.0 ports!, i5 2410m (2nd gen processor) like buying i5 3.2ghz, plug in power on left (so right side not cluttered
Cons: Design, Sound Quality, notification lights @ bottom not top; too small, seperate quick keys above keyboard, green lights insead of cool bue, wish: it was black not sliver, wish: mousepad surface = smooth like case, keys have spaces btw them not used to this design, wish: slot to put external graphic card
Currently in the Market, I couldn't Find Another Laptop with:
- i5 2410M = 2nd Generation = performs better than i5 3.2ghz
- USB 3.0 ports
Other Points:
- Auto brightness adjustment
- Intel HD 3000 Graphic Card
- RAM is 1333 mhz instead of 1000
- Quite & Cool
- MSI = good company, not famous in USA. Its market is in Europe. My brother bought an i5 last year and has had 0 problems since; whereas my HP had numerous problems w/in the 1st yr (but in its defense 0 problems afterwards) its 5yrs old now.
Windows Experience Index:
Processor: 6.9
Memory: 5.9
Graphics: 5.7
Gaming: 6.2
Hard Disk: 5.8
Boot Time:
85 seconds
Backup:
10 sec!!!
Mousepad:
A bit to the left so my hand doesn't accidentally touch it; but because I'm used to it being in the middle I have to move my right hand a bit off alignment to reach the pad.
Keyboard:
Cheaper to the feel, but better than the display models in the store. I don't like how there is room between the keys.
Shortcut Keys:
Utilize Fn & Fhotkes rather than stand alone. So you no longer have the cool glowing lights above the keyboard & your wifi can not be physically turned off, you have to use the shortcut keys.
Lights:
Green instead of cool blue so pops out at you. Also notification lights are at the bottom so you won't really notice the WiFi on/off light etc (hence the other review of 3 stars).
You will have to customize the laptop for yourself otherwise you will have frustration. Its a deal at $699, but a steal at $599.

some frustrations

Cons: Design
The track pad is unfortunately located and makes typing continuously nearly impossible! I keep accidentally hitting the track pad with part of my hand and it causes the cursor to jump to a new place in the text. Absolutely maddening. I have very small hands.
Also there is no light or indicator anywhere that I can find to show if you have the num lock or cap lock on. In fact, there are no indicator lights at all. I haven't figured out how I'll know if it's plugged in.
I paid the extra money to have the Office Depot guys create recovery disks and get rid of all of the manufacturer software, so it's supposed to be faster, right? The boot time is ridiculously slow! I had time to go to the kitchen and make a cup of tea. Wow. Not what I expected.
If it gets better, I will post a more positive review. My daughter has an MSI S6000 and loves it. I was hoping for a similar good experience.
