Pros: tough and reliable, easy to unjam, auto on and off
Cons: a little bit loud, messy bag changes, oiling is critical
I bought one of these about 6 or 7 years ago, and it has served me very well without a single problem until last week, when it suddenly died. I believe the new secretary let it run without oiling for months. I run a small law office with lots of confidential papers to shred. This thing handles 10 sheets of paper easily, paper clips and all. It stresses the motor a little when you try 15 sheets, but it will take them. It chokes a little more when you feed unopened window envelopes with several sheets of paper folded up (credit card offers), but does chew it all down if you rock the forward reverse button a few times. The 24 gal bag capacity seems exagerated -- realistically 10-12 gallons is all that fits in the cabinet. I haven't quite decided to buy another just like it or upgrade to the 420C. I have absolutely no regrets in buying this machine.
