The 'NEW NORMAL'
Pros: easy to use, features, value for money
I am a long time user of System Mechanic. I'm not sure if V5 was their first release, regardless, I have found that over it's lifetime the software has worked flawlessly and have recently upgraded to V8. Getting what you pay for has always been the 'NEW NORMAL'. With System Mechanic you are definitely getting much more than you are paying for.

Doesn't Deliver Claims
Cons: performance
I had a hard drive problem with a corrupted boot file on my HP workstation. The box claimed it could boot the computer from my CDROM. Unfortunately it does not work with SCSI drives, only ATA drives. I tried sending a request to the company tech support email address, but they did not reply. I tried installing the program on my laptop to use it's system features and that was rejected because it does not work with 64 bit Vista. It's a fairly basic registry repair program if you have 32 bit Windows with common IDE drives. There are many free programs for that.

System Mechanic Works
Pros: Display Screen, easy to use, features, Performance, value for money, design
I was disappointed with my PC's performance after one year, and even with a tune-up tool installed. I switched to System Mechanic and found a tremendous improvement. It's easy to install and even easier to run. Actually, it runs by itself in the background and doesn't slow the PC down at all, but you can run selective tests if you want. I suggest trying the free trial vesion and if that checks out ok, you will be surprised how much better the actual version you purchase works. It's a great product.

Easy to set up and configure. The main tool of System Mechanic is easy to access on the main screen allowing you to run an analysis whenever you feel it’s necessary, also you can easily repair all detected problems or choose what problems to fix individually. The best feature in this version of System Mechanic is the improved Activecare that has had its configuration options greatly improved. They have provided many options on how to schedule active care to run in the background, such as only between certain hours, or not to run if processor use is over a certain percentage. And best of all it does not use any system resources when running silently in the background. It’s also a great value because it can run on 3 pcs with one licence. So I am able to run it on the other 2 pcs I take care of for my less computer savvy family members and it keeps their registries clean and temp files from overflowing without me having to check on them every week. As an added bonus it provides an assortment of tools to see your computers health like the hard drive status monitor I just found today. That brings me to System Mechanics only downside, many of the tools are buried in the menus and hard to find plus many details of what it finds in the scans are difficult to see unless you run that categories separate utility that goes more in depth on findings. But if you are willing to put some effort into digging through the menus there are lots of interesting utilities bundled in. Overall I think it’s a great value for the cost and am happy they brought all these features together into one utility and allow you to have it run silently in the background and forget about it.

my computer was so slow and I was getting a lot of error messages I was about to go and get a new one . I went online searching for some software that might be able to fix it .I came across System Mechanic read the reviews and thought I would download the trail version , and WOW I was so impressed I bought it right away. This is the easiest and the most effective software I have ever found. I would recommend this program to anyone . It will fix your computer problems. The more you use it the more you learn on how to keep your computer running like new. Thank You System Mechanic !!!

It saved my computer!
Pros: easy to use, value for money
I fixed my dying computer with System Mechanic. It’s true! My computer got so sluggish and balky I was considering how I was going to come up with the money to buy a new one. While doing some research on how to fix my problem I happened upon System Mechanic by accident and I’m so glad I did. I ran the “deep analysis” and presto my computer ran like its old self. Now a “quick analysis” once a week keeps it and my other two computers purring. That was two years ago and my computer is still running great. It is so reasonably priced that it is worth a try before lugging your computer off for expensive repairs (where the computer guy may charge you to run this very program for you). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!

2 Great Products – System Mechanic (SM) and SM Pro

I was a former Symantec User until Norton AntiVirus 2009 severely damaged 2 of the kids' computers. Windows had to be reinstalled on both machines. System Mechanic solves and prevents problems. We use the Pro version for the Windows XP computers and the standard version for the Vista 64 bit computer. System Mechanic QUICKLY analyzes your system and fixes the problems it detects. I schedule these tasks to run automatically so that my wife and kids do not need to remember to run them. Unlike Norton SystemWorks, SM does not report false problems. When I recently purchased a new computer, the salesperson told me to uninstall all Symantec/Norton Products on the computer. In contrast to the Symantec / Norton products I own, System Mechanic does what it promises and has not caused any problems. System Mechanic has kept our computers running well. Tasks that took hours with Symantec/Norton, complete in under 30 minutes with System Mechanic.

The software loads quickly, is easy to understand and navigate and does a great job optimizing your system. I was a past user and came back because it did a better job than all the separate tools I was using. Also, it is enabled for up to three computers. An easy decision if you are in the market for an all-in-one system clean-up and enhancer tool.

This util does what it says it will do. I use it on 3 pcs-1 vista and 2 xp machines. It's a very good tool as it includes many functions for cleaning and tuning your pc. I've never had any compatibility issues with it, nor has it ever goofed my machines. I recommend trial use to all my pc tweaking buddies.

Dont buy it
Does not work. Comes up unable to repair registry problems. Sometimes freezes up and will not restart computer. Not worth the effort. I highly recommend Registry Mechanic
