Needed a fax machine to fax just a few papers per month with no return faxes. Never had a machine before. I didnt want an expensive one as Im just a beginner and use it very little. Read all reviews I could find an settled on this. Instructions were a bit confusing and in one step it I feel needed more detail. Finnaly figured it all out and only sent two faxes over a coarse of a month. It must have gone thru alright as recieved my signed contract very shortly. Even confirmation page was sent back to me that it was sent. As I progress in my small business will get a dedicated fax line and probably get a better upgraded machine. Perfect right now but Phone seems very cheaply made. No problem for me as use another phone for telephone anyway. Tried to use computer to send faxes but didnt like the cost factor for a fax website. If starting out its a good purchase

Just bought the 640 and it looked and worked great until we received faxes overnight. Because there is no tray to receive incoming faxes, they end up going all over the place and get mixed. You would think the designers would have thought about what to do with incoming messages. It's going back and we will purchase another Brothers 775. We have had two of them in the office for years with no problems. Print quality with the Brothers ribbon is great and considerably cheaper than ink cartridges.

Well Pleased
I am very pleased with this Fax Machine. I wanted something simple to use and not too big. It is very nice and did more than I expected.

Not worth it
Sends and receives decent faxes IF it works. Had my machine for about a year, and it will try to re-initialize without warning, then may be unusable for days! HP Customer Support was NO help! I have been disappointed in most of the HP machines I have bought in the last 5 years or so, and this fax machine is just another example.

Pros: Display Screen, easy to use, features, Performance, value for money
Cons: no receiving paper tray
Value for the money is good and the faxes are crisp and clear. The only downside to this product is that it does not have a paper tray for faxes received. Unless it is used on a big table top, the faxes spit all over the floor.
