Unpredictable Printer
Pros: battery life Cons: performance, Display Screen
Carriage jams for no reason. Eats labels some times, mid page. Doesn't like multi-page jobs--jams. Jams are not predictable. Ignore troubleshooter when it jams--just remove back, remove paper, replace back, open black flap where ink is & close it again & all will be well.

Great ROI
Pros: easy to use, features, Performance, value for money Cons: sound quality
This computer functions in our high capacity home office reliably. None of the issues brought up in other reviews. Use HP XL ink and you will get great results at a low cost per page.
Marked down slightly on quality due noise and vibration. These are minor issues when your print schedules call for up to 2,000 pages per day. Doesn't miss a beat.

would not recommend this printer
Cons: performance, sound quality, Design, lack of display, jams easily, bulky size for simple printer, not quick to print docs takes a min to get starte
I've had it less then 2 months and printed realistically under 100 pages in both b/w and color. it jammed on me today printing a 29 page job. it was very user unfriendly to fix the error/jam. the computer was trying to tell me the problem but lack of an on-printer screen made it very difficult to figure out what the problem was. the light just kept blinking.
on top of that its bulky (for just being a color/bw printer nothing else) its noisy and it doesn't print right away it makes all kinds of ticking and motor noisy before printing and is still noisy when getting the job done. it does print fairly quick and it did print on carstock for me! and just an FYI it didn't jam on the cardstock it jammed on regular white paper i think bc of the large amount of pages being printed.
i give it thumbs down spend more on a better printer and you will be happier. i feel cheap i didn't just go with something nicer, now im stuck with this hunk of junk for a while (at least until i can justify a new purchase) and i've only had it for less than 2 months..

Decent Printer for Small Office
Pros: easy to use, Performance, value for money Cons: loud, big
This printer has a pretty steady workload in our office. The print quality is high & its fast. Recently I got a new computer & couldn't find the driver disk, I was able to download online & it was a seamless transition. Sometimes it jams on envelopes, but that may be a paper type issue. We use the high capacity cartridges & only replace them every couple of months. It won't print if the ink runs out, so you always get high quality prints, no washed out looking ones. My only complaints are that its huge & loud. But for $99 for sale right now, GO FOR IT!

This one lives up to expectations
Pros: Performance, value for money, design Cons: a bit noisy
Having used Canon printers for many years (usually happily), I was reluctant to try an HP printer both because of the typically higher price/feature and concerns about maintenance. However, I chose the HP5400 because of good reviews that I had read about it and, not trivial, the ability to buy high-capacity ink cartridges for it. This latter feature not only reduces the annoyance of frequent cartridge replacement but it brings the operating cost of the HP5400 to a level equivalent to a laser printer. Overall, the print quality, features and speed are quite satisfactory. It is slightly more noisy than some of the printers I've used but not to the point of being a problem. Whereas the Canon printers appear to have decreased in quality per price over the last couple of years (my husband keeps buying them and being disappointed), it looks to me as though HP is improving.
