For $20? Superb!
Pros: Easy to Use, Value for Money, small form factor
This little fax machine from a quality company (Brother) is great for the light home user. I don't fax a lot nor do I receive many faxes at all. However, there have been times when I needed to fax something and wished I had a fax machine handy instead of scanning and emailing to my wife at her job to then turn around and fax to someone. Or, have someone fax to her and then forward to me... What a hassle that was. This was the perfect solution when I saw the Office Depot flyer advertising it for $19.99 (regular $59.99)! Set up was extremely easy. First thing I faxed was the registration form to Brother...went through without a hitch and I got a fax back in a matter of minutes to confirm receipt of my fax. The short of it: Don't expect all the bells and whistles--if you want that, then pay the "big" money; but for such an amazing price, this little thing does the trick for me.

Cons: cartridge life
Nice little fax machine and handles being a home/personal fax machine well. When setting up for phone and fax w/ answering machine, be sure to use a RECORDED greeting on your answering machine and leave AT LEAST 5 SECONDS of dead air before you record your greeting. This allows your answering machine to receive the call and gives the fax machine time to discern between phone call or fax. This should solve any issues with single line phone/faxing. Hope this helps

All you could want in a basic Fax Machine! I got it on sale for $19.99 and it is more than I could ask for! Doesn't jam, sends clear faxes...it's great.

Great for those rare occasions
Pros: perfect for sending, takes little space, works over voip
Cons: carbon roll doesn't last long
I have this thing setup using netTalk over VOIP and it works fine.
I use it to fax my medical records to my doctor once a week.
For receiving faxes and making copies, not so good as the carbon roller used for prinitng does not last very long. I would say it's empty after only fifty sheets.
But all you need to do is roll the carbon back onto the other roll when it runs out and you can use it multiple times, so even this isn't too bad.

Handy fax machine for low cost. No daily mechanical problems such as paper jams, etc. Highly recommend protection plan as power supply burns out quickly on these low end units. Our first one lasted only 13 months and died. $9 covers it for 2 years. Best bet is to wait til it goes on sale and grab it for $19.99. Otherwise the unit is $59.99 without a coupon.

Pros: inexpensive, good for basic home use
Cons: won't necessarily last very long
This is the second time I have purchased this machine. I have a small, home-based business and send and receive faxes a few times a month. The clarity of received faxes is fine. I've never had any problem with paper jams, and since I don't receive many faxes, the ink usage isn't an issue. Easy to program and no problems receiving phone messages on a separate answering machine or having it switch to automatically receiv a fax. Uses up a small amount of space on my desk. I only wish my first one had lasted longer than 2-1/2 years! Overall, a good, inexpensive little fax for a low-usage office or home.

Cons: ribbon don't last., don't use for copying too much
This little machine is GREAT!! Compact, convenient, space saver. I put it in my kitchen nook, since I always work in there. Only problem; do not use to much to copy because the ribbon does not last too long.
Otherwise, I would highly recommend for personal home fax. LOVE IT !!!!

Cons: jams a lot
Worst fax machine ever. Got a $50 rebate on it so net cost was only $10. Did not want to invest much because I receive few faxes these days but this one jams on EVERY fax received.

Cons: uses roller film instead of ink
Uses old roller films which are virtually impossible to change - messy to use. I've returned this poor quality, difficult to use machine

Set it up to receive phone calls and faxes, with an answering machine attached. Followed all instructions to a "t". My bank and the courthouse cannot fax me at all, but smaller fax machines can fax me. You have to let every single call go to the answering machine and then figure out if it is a call or a fax, it rings the same regardless. I bought this to have only 1 phone line, but will have to have 2 if I want to get faxes.

Worst machine I ever invested in
From quite early on, I started to have problems with the film. If the machine was left plugged in, it would get hot enough to damage the film and the film would crinkle up in the machine. I tried new film, but very quickly it would the same thing to the new film. Lost 2 whole rolls of film that way. Would not recommend this fax to anyone!

Cons: paper jam is end of perforfomance.
Have two that won't work now, they jam paper wise and then absolutely will not work after this. Before this they were little gems, especially faxing for housing deal, and great copiers.

Horrible. Would randomly send all black faxes. Not good when you are sending multiple invoices to customers and they receive 5-6 pages using up ink.
