Great Deal on the 4730!

Pros: great deal for the price.
I got this on sale for $390. That was a steal and I'm very happy with the quality of the product. This was my first laptop -- if you have a wireless router in your home it's very addicting because you have access all over the house. Another reviewer noted the unusual partitioning -- the 160 gb hard drive is divided into two equally sized partitions. The idea is to store your operating system and programs on C: and all your data on D:. That's a common operation but you don't need 60 gig on the C: drive -- around 25-30 gig should be sufficient -- unless there's something I'm missing. One minor issue with tapping on the touchpad -- if you're doing a lot of typing you might disable the tapping feature. However, if you're just reading and surfing then the tapping feature is very handy. When I'm typing with tapping enabled I keep hitting the touchpad and inadvertantly moving the cursor. This is a problem with all laptops of course -- not specific to this unit.
I love this unit -- very happy with it!

Excellent Value

Pros: snappy processor, plenty of ram for basic needs, not a ton of bloated software, excellent wireless, very good battery life
Cons: you can play games on the laptop, don't know why you'd want to
Having been a computer geek for a long time, I've finally purchased a laptop.
After a ton of research, I selected this model, and am extremely happy.

WHO USES A WIRED MOUSE ANYMORE?

Pros: nice screen, great back up program installed, bluetooth capable! who needs a wired mouse?, awesome price only 390 on a one day sale!!
Cons: bunch of software that i didnt need, no restore discs but it is really easy to make, your own discs, no web cam
I don't know who uses a wire mouse any more? This computer has bluetooth and I did a quick search for bluetooth mouse and found many for sale. Plus it has a5 in 1 card reader in the front that can be used for memory and the two usb ports would work just fine for a mouse and memory stick unless one or the other was unusually large.
I am giving it only 4 stars because of the hassle in removing the unwanted software and having to make your own restore discs.
Over all a great computer for the money.

Quality Notebook - Great Value

Pros: wireless n network adapter, dual layer dvd burner with lightscribe, low price - atractive styling
Cons: no cds for installed software
I have always been impresed with Acer's price point and finally decided to buy one. This unit is stylish, well laid out and portable. The glossy finish on the outside is a fingerprint magnet but it sure looks beautiful when clean. The 14.1 display is more than adequate and has beautiful resolution, plus it keeps the footprint of the unit small and light. There is a lot of bundled software that I could do without - eval of MS Office, eval of McAfee, etc. but the Acer proprietary stuff is not bad - especially the backup/restore package.

Thin, Light, Cheap and Latest

Pros: cheap, beautiful 14" display, pretty light @ 5.29 pounds, new intel 4500 graphics
Cons: 2 usb ports, crapware installed
- Super Cheap at around $500.
- Display is really good. Not all 14" displays are equal. This one is better than the one in HP 6515b and Dell Vostro 1400.
- Latest Intel 4500 graphics.
- Super Fast Processor. Newer Pentium Dual Core e.g T3200 is the same as Core 2 Duo but with 1 Mb Cache. See the wikipedia article on this for more details.
- While many haven't hard of Acer in the US, it is the 3rd largest computer company worldwide.
- Wireless-N
- Laptop runs really cool.
- Battery life is average aroun 2.5-3 hours depending on usage.
- Pretty thin and Light @ 5.29 pounds. Some of the competing 14" models from HP and Dell are at 6 pounds.
- 14" Display is better than 15.4" display. What you see in both (i.e. the resolution) is the same for both. Then why carry the extra bulk when you can have a lighter less bulky laptop.
- Looks pretty slick. I think it is better than the silver laptops which fade easily after couple of months. the stock picture dosen't do it justice.

Great Laptop

Pros: fast, great audio and picture quality, big screen, does every thing it should do
Cons: runs on vista, memory is divided a little wierd
This is a great laptop...I love it...The screen is perfect size and everything...It does everything that i want it to...The only problem I have had is the mouse cursor not working once or twice until I restarted which i think is just my computer...other than that I would recommend you to buy it!
